Masters of Science (MSc.) What is MSc? MSc is a postgraduate, taught, masters degree. One can specialise in specific subject areas and earn an MSc. Specialisation: British business schools offer MSc programs with various specialisations such as Business, Banking, Economics, Healthcare, Hospitality, Project Management etc. Career Progression: MSc is designed for students who have either 1) just graduated with a bachelor's degree and want to gain an in-depth knowledge in a specific field and don't have the work experience or 2) who are considering in dedicating their life doing research and earn a Doctorate (PhD - Doctor of Philosophy)en route. Entry Requirements: To do an MSc from the UK, you must typically have bachelor's degree with good scores. No experience is necessary however some business schools do insist students be of high caliber and this can be proved by a combination of excellent scores during bachelor's degree, strong references from your university or your employer supporting your candidacy and a GMAT or even a GRE score if you intend to specialise in a quantitative field. You must be able to prove your English language skill which includes; ability to read, write, comprehend, evaluate, critically analyse & draw conclusions from a given complex text. Usually, if your first language is not English or your education and or your work experience have not been in English language medium than you will have to take the IELTS or TOEFL test. A typical IELTS score of 6 and above or a TOEFL score of 575 and above is a general requirement in order to gain entry into the highly demanding MSc course. In some cases, telephonic interviews conducted by the British business school along with strong references from work or your university may help you skip the IELTS or the TOEFL test.
